How to redeem a game key on any platform

By Andalu team · · Updated · 3 min read

Every game key redeems the same basic way: open the platform the key is for, find its redeem option, and paste the key exactly as it arrived. What changes from one platform to the next is where that option lives, whether you need an app, and how its region rule works. Here is each one, in its own guide's words.

Before you redeem

  • Check the platform your key is for. The tags under the game's name on its Andalu page name it, and a key only works on its own platform.
  • Sign in to the account you'll play on. Most platforms can't move a redeemed key to another account: Steam, for one, ties an activated key to that account permanently.
  • Copy the key from the email for your order. It's in the email, or one tap away behind its Get your order button. Paste it exactly as it arrived.

If the platform refuses the key

Stop, and don't keep trying the key. Check the platform your order names and the region on the product page. If both match your account and the key is still refused, buyer protection replaces or refunds it. If the key is for another platform, redeem it there. The full steps are in wrong platform or region.

Each platform guide has a troubleshooting table of the messages that platform shows, and the help search finds the row for an error message you paste into it.

Where the game shows up

A full game appears in your library, ready to download. Upgrades and DLC don't appear as a new game: they're listed with the base game. See Standard, Deluxe or DLC for where each kind lands.
