Nintendo key questions
Can I redeem a Nintendo code without my console?
Yes, on Nintendo's redeem website from a computer or phone, as long as your Nintendo Account has opened Nintendo eShop on a console at least once. The game then waits on your account: load it from Virtual Game Cards on your console.
Does it matter whether I redeem on Nintendo Switch 2 or Nintendo Switch?
Most codes work on either, because the game lands on your Nintendo Account. Codes for Nintendo Switch 2 games, Switch 2 Editions and upgrade packs only redeem on a Nintendo Switch 2 or on the website.
Can I change my Nintendo Account's country to match a code?
Only if you've moved there. The country on your Nintendo Account is your country of residence, and Nintendo blocks a change while you have eShop funds, an auto-renewing membership or a pre-order in progress. If a code doesn't match your account's region, contact us instead.
I redeemed the code on the wrong account. Can it be moved?
No. Nintendo can't transfer digital purchases between Nintendo Accounts. Once the game is loaded on a console, though, anyone who uses that console can play it.
Can I redeem it on a Nintendo 3DS or Wii U?
No. Nintendo ended code redemption for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U on April 3, 2023. Codes now redeem only on Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch.
