Steam key questions

Can I activate a Steam key without installing Steam?

Yes. Activate it on Steam's website from any browser, including on your phone. To play, you need the Steam app on a computer, or a Steam Deck.

Can I activate a key on a brand-new Steam account?

Yes. Steam holds back some community features on new accounts until they spend money in the Steam store. Activating a key doesn't count as spending, but it doesn't need to: you can still activate the key and play.

Can I change my Steam store country to match a key?

No. Steam sets your store country from where you live and pay, and a key can't change it. Buy keys for the region you live in, shown on every product page.

I activated the key on the wrong account. Can it be moved?

No. Steam ties an activated key to that account permanently. Sign in to that account to play the game.

Can I play on more than one computer?

Yes. The game belongs to your Steam account, not your computer. Sign in on any computer or Steam Deck and install it from your Library.
