Decay: The Mare

Sam, a recovering addict, checks into a treatment facility called Reaching Dreams hoping to turn his life around. On his first night something goes wrong, and he wakes up trapped inside an endless nightmare. Players search each scene for hidden items and clues, then work through logic-based puzzles to keep moving forward. The inventory fills with everything Sam picks up along the way. Most obstacles are solved by combining items or trying them against doors, locks and other props scattered through the crumbling facility. There is no combat and no reflex-based challenge here. Progress depends entirely on reading a scene carefully, working out what an object is for, and figuring out which item unlocks the next area. Sound design carries much of the tension, building dread through silence, distant noise and disorienting shifts in the environment rather than jump scares. Each episode pushes the story further into Sam's fractured mind, adding new locations and puzzle types while circling the same mystery: what happened to him, and why he cannot wake up. The pacing is slow and deliberate, aimed at players who want a short, atmospheric mystery built entirely around observation and problem solving rather than action or combat.
