Hatred

The player moves through a monochrome, high-contrast city and its interiors, shooting enemies with a range of firearms and explosives while taking cover behind destructible scenery. Executions on downed enemies restore health, tying survival directly to the game's most graphic moments rather than to conventional healing items.

The game is distinguished mainly by its unflinching tone and stripped-down visual style, presenting its violence without the stylization or humor common to other shooters. There is no branching story or moral choice system; the player's role is limited to combat and movement through a fixed sequence of confrontations.

• Monochrome visual style The city and characters are rendered mostly in black, white, and red.
• Execution health system Finishing off downed enemies restores the player's health.
• Destructible cover Environmental objects can be shot apart during firefights.
• Top-down shooting Combat is viewed from an isometric overhead angle.
