Battles play out in turn-based combat, with each hero bringing distinct skills, perks, and status effects like stun, elemental damage, or damage over time. Between fights, players manage a home base that can be expanded and upgraded, unlocking new resources, quests, and companions to recruit. Each hero grows through customizable stats, abilities, and skill trees, so builds can be shaped around a preferred playstyle over the course of a run. Exploring the corrupted landscape means gathering resources, crafting and upgrading gear, and maintaining equipment durability as it wears down in the field. Certain skills open up new areas and quests when used on the environment, so party composition affects where the group can actually go. Companions can also be sent off on missions of their own, completing tasks independently while the player keeps exploring and returns to collect the rewards. Bonfire waypoints act as safe rest points between battles, letting the party restock supplies before pushing back into hostile ground.
