Trulon: The Shadow Engine

You control Gladia, a young monster huntress, as she travels the kingdoms of Tripudia and Maelon hunting the source of a spreading disease. The setting mixes fantasy with steampunk: magic sits alongside machines powered by magical energy, and towns, forests and factory interiors are drawn in a hand-painted style. Exploration works like a classic console RPG. You walk the world map, talk to more than a hundred characters, solve light puzzles and pick up quests, then drop into combat when an enemy blocks the path. Fights are turn-based and driven by a deck of over fifty cards. Each card is an attack, a spell or a support ability, and the hand you draw each turn is partly random, so you plan around what you are given rather than repeating one optimal move. Four playable characters join the party over the course of the story, each with a different card pool and role, and you decide who fights and which cards their deck carries. The campaign follows a written story arc with named villains and a conspiracy behind the plague. Sessions are short and the rules are simple to pick up, but deck building rewards players who think about card synergy.
