The Assembly

Players alternate between two protagonists, Madeleine Stanton and Cal Pearson, each with their own perspective on the organization's hidden facility and its ethically questionable research projects. Exploration focuses on walking through detailed environments, examining objects, and engaging in dialogue-driven conversations that reveal the organization's history and the tensions between its members. Key decisions throughout the story affect relationships between characters and shape how the plot resolves, encouraging players to weigh loyalty, curiosity, and self-preservation against one another. The pacing favors slow-building mystery over action, with the underground facility itself acting as a central character whose secrets are uncovered piece by piece. Puzzle-solving elements are woven into the exploration, tasking players with using tools and clues found in the environment to progress. The game supports an optional virtual reality viewing mode for a more immersive perspective on its enclosed, tension-filled setting, though it can also be played in a traditional format.
