Suffer The Night

Players take on the role of Stacey Linden, a horror illustrator trapped alone as the storm rages outside. A mysterious envelope arrives containing an old floppy disk, and loading it into a vintage computer opens a second game hidden within the first: a text-based dungeon crawler. A menacing stranger who brought the disk keeps making his presence known while Stacey plays, and ignoring his interruptions carries real consequences in the main cabin. The two halves of the experience constantly trade places, mixing the slow dread of the text adventure with the tension of exploring the cabin in first person. Puzzles scattered through the cabin gate progress and reveal more of what is happening to Stacey, while combat encounters bring nightmarish creatures directly into the fight. The tone leans into campy late-eighties slasher style layered over a more unsettling psychological horror underneath. A full playthrough runs roughly five hours, built around exploration, puzzle-solving and confrontations with the threats inside and outside the cabin.
