Stray Souls

The player controls Daniel, an ordinary young man whose life changes after he inherits his estranged grandmother's house. There he meets a woman who claims to know the truth behind his family and the building's history. Exploring the surrounding town uncovers a long-running plot that reaches back to the day Daniel was born, told through environmental storytelling and branching dialogue that shapes his personality across the story. Combat favors careful, deliberate fighting against twisted creatures, closer to a soulslike rhythm of dodging and punishing openings than a fast shooter. Players can also choose to slip past some threats rather than fight them. Puzzle-solving is woven through the haunted house and town, gating story progress behind environmental riddles. Encounters, item placement, weather and other strange occurrences are partly randomized between playthroughs, so exploring the same locations twice doesn't always play out the same way.
