Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishments

The player explores crime scenes searching for physical clues, questions witnesses and suspects, and performs deduction sequences that ask the player to connect gathered evidence into a chain of logical conclusions before deciding on a final verdict for each case. Some cases allow more than one conclusion to be reached depending on which evidence the player weighs most heavily, and the game tracks whether the chosen verdict matches the actual guilty party.

Beyond straightforward questioning, the game includes reconstructions of past events, disguise-based infiltration segments, and physical examination tools such as a magnifying lens and chemical analysis kit for close inspection of clues. Its emphasis on player-driven deduction, including the option to accuse an innocent party if the evidence seems to point that way, sets it apart from adventure games with a single fixed solution per case.

• Deduction board Clues are connected on a reasoning board to reach case conclusions.
• Multiple case verdicts Some cases can be resolved with different final verdicts based on evidence chosen.
• Crime scene investigation Physical tools like a magnifying lens and chemical kit examine clues closely.
