Outlast

Unarmed and outmatched, the player has no weapon and no way to fight back, only a handheld camcorder with a night-vision mode that lights dark corridors while draining its battery.

Survival means running, hiding in lockers and under beds, and choosing when to burn precious battery power to see what is actually chasing through the dark, since standing and looking is often the more dangerous option.

The building itself tells its own story through scattered documents, staff logs, and graffiti left by people who did not survive what happened before the player arrived. Exploring a little further into a dark room is often the only way to understand what is chasing them, piecing the outbreak together one recording at a time as the dread grows.

• No combat at all The only tool is a camcorder; every threat is escaped or hidden from, never fought.
• Battery-limited night vision Batteries are scarce, so seeing clearly in the dark is a resource to spend, not a given.
• Environmental hiding spots Lockers, beds, and cabinets offer cover, but pursuers can and do check them.
• A hospital with a history Notes and recordings scattered through the building piece together what happened before the player arrived.
