About this game
Players pause the action to draw brush strokes directly on the screen, using techniques like Power Slash to cut enemies, Bloom to restore withered plants, or Firebrand to light torches. These Celestial Brush powers double as combat tools and puzzle solutions, and new techniques are unlocked gradually as the story progresses through open, explorable areas.
The story draws heavily on Japanese mythology, featuring figures like Susano and the multi-headed serpent Orochi, and rewards exploration with hidden shrines, animals to feed, and townspeople with their own subplots. This HD version updates the original's visuals, which were built around a sumi-e ink painting art style, for sharper detail and widescreen display.
- Celestial Brush Powers Brush techniques like Power Slash and Bloom serve as both combat and puzzle tools.
- Japanese Mythology Setting The story and characters draw directly on folklore figures such as Susano and Orochi.
- Ink Painting Art Style Visuals are built around a sumi-e-inspired look, refreshed for this HD release.
- Open Exploration Players roam connected areas, uncovering shrines, animals, and side stories.
