Tomb Raider VI: The Angel of Darkness

Players control Lara as she explores gothic city streets, ancient ruins, and underground passages, solving environmental puzzles, climbing and jumping across obstacles, and fighting enemies with firearms and melee attacks. The story introduces a murder investigation and supernatural conspiracy that ties into occult experiments, a departure from the more straightforward tomb-raiding plots of earlier entries.

New mechanics include a stealth option for avoiding guards, an interactive dialogue and investigation system, and light role-playing elements such as building trust with certain characters. The game also briefly allows control of a second playable character during part of the story, breaking from the series' single-protagonist structure.

• Investigation Sequences Lara questions suspects and gathers clues as part of a murder investigation subplot.
• Stealth Options Players can avoid direct combat by sneaking past guards in certain areas.
• Environmental Puzzles Levels require climbing, jumping, and manipulating objects to progress.
• Second Playable Character Part of the story briefly switches control away from Lara to another character.
