Fighting Fantasy Legends

Players journey through City of Thieves, The Warlock of Firetop Mountain and Citadel of Chaos, each told through cards instead of printed paragraphs. Every location deals from a shuffled deck of treasure, monster and event cards, so no two runs play out the same way. Combat is resolved with dice instead of fixed stats, and those dice level up as the character fights and survives encounters. Before each roll, the player chooses whether to boost strength for damage or luck for avoiding traps and bad outcomes. Defeated monsters are recorded in a Creature Codex that tracks every creature encountered across a playthrough. An optional permadeath mode raises the stakes further, ending a run for good if the character dies. Completing runs and surviving specific dangers unlocks titles and other in-game achievements. The three stories can be played in any order, each contributing its own cast of monsters and locations to explore.
