Backbone | Artifact Edition

Players control Howard Lotor as he takes on a routine surveillance case that unravels into a much larger conspiracy, moving through dialogue-heavy scenes, side-scrolling exploration, and light stealth sections. Conversation choices shape how other characters react and which pieces of information become available, and the story shifts tone partway through as the true scope of the conspiracy is revealed. Investigation segments involve examining scenes and objects to gather evidence, feeding directly into how later conversations and confrontations play out.

• Detective Investigation Players examine scenes and gather evidence that shapes later story beats.
• Branching Dialogue Conversation choices affect character reactions and available information.
• Side-Scrolling Exploration The city is explored through 2D side-scrolling movement between scenes.
• Stealth Segments Some sections require avoiding detection rather than direct confrontation.
