A Long Way Down

Every action, from moving through corridors to fighting off monsters, is resolved by playing cards from a personal deck built up over the course of a run. Cards can bridge gaps, unlock shortcuts or trigger combat, so the order and combination a player collects shapes how each attempt at escape unfolds. Every level layout is generated fresh, so no two runs follow the same path.

Along the way, Sam can recruit other trapped wanderers to fight alongside him, though a poor choice can turn a potential ally into another threat. Defeated enemies and explored rooms yield equipment and rewards that upgrade the deck and improve Sam's odds against tougher encounters deeper in the maze. And every decision the player makes along the route shapes how the final confrontation with the maze's mastermind plays out.
