X3: Albion Prelude

It drops you into a sprawling sector-linked universe during a war between rival corporations, fought as the old jumpgate network gives way to newly built space highways. You fly a single ship at first, trading goods between stations, running escort and combat contracts, and salvaging or capturing enemy vessels. Profits buy better hulls, shields and weapons, then whole fleets you command through remote orders. The simulated economy runs whether you watch it or not: factories consume inputs, prices move with supply, and shortages ripple outward, so a trader who reads the market can profit from a war fought on the other side of the map. You can build your own factories and complexes, wire them together into production chains, and set automated traders to feed them. A stock exchange lets you invest in corporations and speculate on shares alongside ordinary cargo runs. The war scenario adds contested sectors where large fleets clash and front lines move over time. New ships, stations and sectors expand the map, and a fresh storyline runs through the conflict. Charts and an updated cockpit interface make the economic side readable. Saves from the base game are not carried over, so this is a fresh start.
