The Sims 3 Island Paradise

Players can move their households onto new island locations, build and sail houseboats, and manage resort businesses that other simulated characters visit and rate. New activities include scuba diving and snorkeling, during which sims can encounter sea life, sunken treasure, and even mermaids.

The expansion changes the base game's daily life simulation by introducing water-based property types and a hospitality management mechanic tied to running a resort, tasks not present in the core game. Existing households can be relocated to the new island setting to take advantage of these additions.

• Houseboat Living Sims can live aboard buildable, moveable houseboats instead of fixed homes.
• Resort Management Players can build and operate island resorts that other sims visit and rate.
• Underwater Exploration Scuba diving and snorkeling let sims explore the sea floor for treasure and wildlife.
• Mermaid Life State Sims can become mermaids, gaining unique abilities tied to water.
