Starsand

Two moons hang over dunes that shift and hide danger. There is no way home until you work out where you actually are. You hunt local wildlife and gather plants for food. You also craft tools and weapons from what you scavenge. Building a shelter matters too, since it helps you survive the swings between blistering heat and freezing cold. Creatures native to the dunes hunt back, so fortifying your base and staying armed matters as much as finding your next meal. The open desert covers dozens of square miles and holds ruins and artifacts left by a civilization that no longer exists. Exploring those remains slowly uncovers your own connection to the world's past. Meanwhile the day-night cycle keeps forcing decisions about heat, cold, and how far from shelter you can safely wander.
