Boss fights follow the same system at a larger scale, pitting Baelin against oversized fish that demand sharper timing and stronger gear to bring down. Exploration covers both dry land and underwater zones across the realm of Azerim, with new fishing spots opening up as Baelin grows stronger. Gear progression runs through the rod, line, and hook attachments such as a magnet hook or drill, plus hat armor that adds defensive stats. Dredging shipwrecks turns up treasure that funds the reconstruction of Honeywood's ruined buildings, which in turn unlocks new merchants, quests, and equipment. Completing a full set of fish from a given area lets players offer the collection at a fishing god's statue in exchange for skill upgrades. The tone stays lighthearted throughout, leaning on the joke of an overlooked side character stepping into a hero's role he never asked for.
