How to Survive

The player controls a survivor who gathers materials from the environment, crafts weapons, traps, and shelter items, and manages hunger, thirst, and health meters that drop steadily over time. Starvation or exposure poses as real a threat as the zombies themselves.

Combat mixes crude melee weapons with improvised firearms against zombie types ranging from slow shamblers to fast, aggressive variants that demand different tactics. A guidebook narrator named Kovac appears between missions to explain survival techniques and crafting recipes as the story advances.

The game follows several playable survivors across separate story arcs on the shared island setting, with crafting options and threats expanding as more areas are explored.
