Highrisers

A mysterious prion disease has turned much of the population into slow, zombie-like dreamers, forcing the group to plan for each coming night. Exploration happens across procedurally generated buildings, so no two runs through the same campaign play out identically. Each of the four survivors has an individual skill tree, unlocking recipes, perks and abilities that combine with teammates' skills for stronger group tactics. A deep crafting system turns scavenged parts into weapons ranging from simple clubs to crossbows and improvised firearms. Crafting also covers barricades, workbenches and medicine needed to keep the team standing. When night falls, players must fight off, lure away, immobilize or hide from the dreamers using whatever defenses they built during the day. A long-term goal involves repairing and upgrading a rooftop aircraft, which the team gradually restores to eventually escape the city. The mix of scavenging, skill-tree progress and nightly threat management rewards careful planning over brute force.
