DreadOut: Keepers of The Dark

DreadOut: Keepers of The Dark is a survival horror adventure that follows Linda, a schoolgirl with a smartphone camera that can reveal and repel malevolent spirits, as she explores a decrepit, fog-shrouded village steeped in local folklore. The player moves through dim corridors and abandoned buildings using the camera's viewfinder to spot invisible threats, snap photographs to weaken them, and solve environmental puzzles that unlock new areas. Combat is intentionally slow and tense, forcing careful positioning and light management as menacing figures known as the Keepers stalk the player through cursed spaces. Between confrontations, the game leans on atmosphere: creaking floors, flickering torches, and radio static that hints at nearby danger. Story fragments are pieced together through notes, environmental clues, and brief cutscenes that expand on the ghost lore first introduced in the earlier DreadOut game. Stealth sections require the player to hide from stronger apparitions that cannot be photographed away, adding variety to the horror loop. The pacing alternates between quiet exploration and sudden scares, with sound design carrying much of the tension. As Linda pushes deeper into the settlement, she uncovers the origins of the Keepers and the fate of those who lived there before her.
