As village chief, you spend each day assigning peasants to tasks: harvesting food, gathering timber, raising walls, and reinforcing homes. When darkness falls, the villagers hide indoors while wolves, bears, and worse emerge from the trees to test your defenses. Your goal is simply to hold out until the king's knights arrive. Unlike most city builders, expansion is not the point; defending what you already have is. Every loss is permanent, since dead villagers cannot be replaced, though ruined buildings can be rebuilt. The monsters follow their own behavioral rules, watching how your village operates and probing for weaknesses before they strike. Weather adds another layer of pressure. Rain, snow, and drought are not cosmetic: a dry spell forces you to irrigate crops, pulling workers away from wall building at the worst possible time. Success comes from balancing food, labor, and fortification night after night, and from accepting that some sacrifices cannot be avoided.
