X4: Timelines

And it requires the base simulator to play.

Playing as Harper Donel, a trader from the border territories, the player follows a chance encounter that reshapes plans and understanding of the wider universe. The new storyline unfolds across a series of standalone scenarios, each built around a different core system such as trading, exploration, or combat, making it approachable without a full playthrough.

The expansion adds directly into an existing save rather than requiring a new one, and finishing its scenarios feeds rewards back into the wider sandbox: reimagined ships from earlier eras of the setting's history. Extra star systems and points of interest, and a faction not previously present. The base simulator must already be installed for any of this to run.

• Story Scenarios Guided scenarios build a new plot around trader Harper Donel and unlock further chapters as they're completed.
• Save Integration New content installs into an existing save file instead of requiring a fresh start.
• Sandbox Rewards Completing scenarios unlocks reimagined historical ships, extra star systems, and a previously unseen faction.
• Requires Base Simulator This content only adds to the base simulator and has no function without it installed.
