It gathers X3: Reunion, X3: Terran Conflict and X3: Albion Prelude, which together cover a long arc of that universe's history. All three run on the same four verbs: trade goods between stations for profit, fight pirates and rival fleets, build factories that manufacture wares, and think about how each choice moves a simulated economy that keeps running with or without you. Reunion opens the series' modern engine with a story campaign and a free-play universe. Terran Conflict widens the map, adds new factions and hulls, and layers in a large set of missions and plot lines. Albion Prelude sets a corporate war across contested sectors and adds a stock exchange for speculating on shares. Progress in each follows the same shape: earn enough to upgrade your ship, then buy more ships, then automate them as traders and escorts until you command fleets and production complexes by remote order. Prices respond to shortages, so wars and blockades create trading openings far from the fighting. Flight is handled from the cockpit, with docking, cargo management and combat played directly rather than abstracted away.
