Combat unfolds through three unit archetypes: the shielded Sun Warrior, the ranged Dune Hunter and the explosive Mystic Mage, each suited to different squad roles. After every victory, players pick one of three random tablets to enhance their units, shaping a unique squad build that resets with each new run. Weapons and accessories earned in combat or bought from an in-run marketplace boost unit power, while a Citadel building system grants permanent bonuses that carry across future attempts. The pacing favors quick, punchy turns over long tactical setups, so runs move fast without losing strategic choice. Squad composition changes meaningfully between playthroughs because the tablet pulls are randomized, pushing players to adapt their approach on the fly rather than repeat a single winning combination. The Ancient Egyptian setting frames every encounter, from the enemy roster to the tablet artwork and the Citadel's architecture.
