About this game
Players command squads of units across grid-based battlefields, positioning troops, managing cover and line of sight, and issuing special abilities tied to each unit type before ending a turn for the enemy to respond. Missions follow a campaign structure where earlier battles affect the strength and options available in later ones, and unit losses can carry consequences into subsequent missions. The Tyranid side plays very differently from the Blood Angels, relying on overwhelming numbers and biological abilities rather than the disciplined firepower of the marine forces.
- Grid-Based Tactics Battles take place on tactical grids where positioning and cover matter.
- Campaign Structure Missions link together, with outcomes affecting later battles.
- Two Distinct Factions Blood Angels and Tyranid forces play with very different unit abilities.
- Unit Abilities Each unit type carries special abilities that can turn a battle's outcome.
