Vertical Kingdom

The setting follows a fallen Empire left in ruins after a war spanning a full generation, with the player cast as the Great Architect tasked with rebuilding it. Each turn, players choose from five decks and play cards to add new floors, rooms and structures, all stacked directly on top of what came before. Buildings are permanent once placed, with no way to undo a choice, so every card played has to account for food, water, bricks, wood, stone and metal. Homes and workshops built for imperial citizens generate taxes and resources and keep their loyalty, so placement decisions ripple through the whole tower. Expeditions are randomized each run, sending the player into terrain with different resource shortages and limited building space, giving each city a distinct shape. No two runs unfold the same way.
