About this game
The player commands one of several warlords caught up in the rebellion, managing armies and territory on a turn-based map before resolving battles in real time against Yellow Turban rebel forces and rival factions. The added campaign introduces new playable characters and a distinct set of starting conditions focused on suppressing or exploiting the uprising, separate from the base game's main historical campaign.
Rebel armies use unique unit types and abilities tied to the uprising's fanatical, faith-driven soldiers. Distinct from the main campaign, this content centers on the earlier, chaotic period of unrest that set the stage for the later three-way division of China, offering a shorter and more focused scenario.
- New Short Campaign Focuses on the historical uprising that preceded the main three-way conflict.
- Rebel Faction Units Yellow Turban forces use unique fanatical unit types.
- New Playable Characters Additional warlords become available for this specific scenario.
- Real-Time Battles Field engagements against rebel armies use the series' real-time combat system.
