Players pick one of three rival military powers and lead that faction's forces across the conflict. Command plays out through a mix of traditional strategy controls and a distinctive voice command system that lets players issue orders by speaking. A third-person camera drops the viewpoint into the middle of each battle, making cover and terrain central to survival. Battles unfold across dozens of large, mostly destructible battlefields, with buildings and cover breaking apart under sustained fire. Players build up battalions of infantry, armor and air units, unlocking upgrades and raising unit ranks as battles are won. Each faction plays with its own strengths, giving players a reason to master more than one side of the war. Matches can be played solo against the computer or against other commanders, with outcomes feeding into the wider ongoing war. The voice system covers common orders like moving a unit, targeting an enemy or calling in support, aiming to keep commands as fast as thought.
