Sudden Strike Gold

Players command Russian, German, French, American and British forces across large battles that range from city fighting to beach landings and airborne assaults. Scenarios can field up to a thousand units at once, mixing tanks, artillery, infantry and aircraft on maps built for long tactical engagements. Terrain is destructible: bridges, buildings, fortifications and trees can all be leveled or fortified as the battle develops, changing sightlines and approach routes mid-fight. Players also build pontoon bridges and defensive structures to control how the map opens up over time. A bundled map editor lets players build and share their own scenarios. Because the design favors large unit counts and sprawling maps over tight squad management, battles reward positioning, terrain use and combined-arms tactics over reflexes. The included add-on content extends the original campaign with further missions, and the additional map pack adds more battlegrounds to fight across. The whole package plays as one continuous WWII strategy experience rather than a short standalone title.
