Midnight Protocol

Each mission presents a node map representing a target's network; the player moves a cursor between nodes, deploying programs to bypass firewalls, avoid traces, and extract or plant data before an automated defense system detects the intrusion.

Detection raises an alarm meter, and getting caught forces a race to disconnect before the intrusion is traced back to a real-world location.

Between missions, a branching story unfolds through text-based messages and contracts, while software upgrades earned from completed jobs expand the hacking toolkit for tougher networks.

• Node-Based Hacking Networks are represented as node maps that the player navigates and breaches.
• Turn-Based Programs Hacking tools are deployed one action at a time against network defenses.
• Alarm System A rising alarm meter tracks how close a defense system is to detecting the intrusion.
• Branching Story Text-based messages and contracts advance a story with multiple outcomes.
• Toolkit Upgrades Completed jobs unlock stronger software for later missions.
