Making History: The First World War

Players manage a country's economy, research, diplomacy, and armed forces on a world map, deciding when to mobilize, which alliances to pursue, and how to allocate industrial output between civilian and military needs. Time progresses in real time with the ability to pause and issue orders, letting players direct armies, navies, and emerging technologies like early aircraft and tanks across a global conflict.

Historical nations and borders form the starting point, but decisions made by the player and other nations can shift alliances and outcomes away from the historical record. Domestic factors such as public opinion and resource shortages can affect a nation's ability to keep waging war over a long campaign.

Diplomacy tools let players negotiate treaties, request aid, or declare war on other nations as the conflict spreads.
