Into the Breach

Before acting each turn, the player can see exactly which tiles the enemies are about to attack, so success comes from pushing, blocking or repositioning units to redirect or cancel those attacks rather than simply dealing the most damage. Losing too many buildings ends a run, and pilots who survive a mission carry experience and bonuses into future attempts even after a squad is wiped out.

Runs are short and heavily puzzle-like compared to most tactics games, since fights typically last only a handful of turns on a tiny grid. Several different squads with distinct mech loadouts and a persistent pilot roster give repeated playthroughs a different feel each time.

• Perfect Information Turns Enemy attacks are shown in advance, turning each move into a solvable puzzle.
• Small Grid Battles Fights take place on a compact 8x8 map with only a few units per side.
• Persistent Pilots Surviving pilots carry bonuses forward even after a squad is lost.
• Multiple Mech Squads Different squads offer distinct weapon and movement combinations.
