Homefront: The Revolution

Rather than following linear corridors, the player moves through an open city divided into contrasting zones, scavenging scrap and supplies from wreckage and hidden caches to fund weapons and gear. A modular weapon system lets the player physically reconfigure a single base gun into different roles - suppressed pistol, assault rifle, sniper setup - on the fly, adapting to encounters without needing to carry multiple separate weapons. Combat mixes stealth, sabotage, and improvised explosives with outright firefights against patrols, checkpoints, and armored vehicles, rewarding the player for using the environment and crowds for cover and ambushes. Cooperative missions send a squad of resistance fighters into self-contained objectives, while a wave-based resistance mode tasks players with holding out and reclaiming ground against escalating enemy assaults. The combination of scavenged, adaptable weaponry and asymmetric urban warfare against a technologically superior enemy defines the game's approach to combat.
