Grand Ages: Medieval

The map stretches from Scandinavia and North Africa to Portugal, the Caucasus and the Middle East, giving the player room to found new cities across a large, connected world. Progress runs on trade: the game tracks 20 different goods, and shipping the right resources between cities and trade partners funds construction, feeds citizens and supplies soldiers in the field. Research unlocks roughly 50 period technologies that improve production, military strength and city development, letting a small settlement grow into a functioning kingdom over time. Combat is handled with knights, archers and cavalry, used both to defend trade routes from raiders and to press territorial conquest once a kingdom is established. Random events such as storms, fires, volcanic eruptions, droughts, earthquakes and outbreaks of plague can strike a city without warning, forcing the player to divert resources to recovery instead of expansion. A campaign mode walks through a scripted set of missions with cinematics, while a free play mode drops the player straight into open-ended empire building. Up to eight players can compete in the same world in multiplayer, racing to outbuild and outmaneuver each other's trade networks and armies.
