Dicefolk

The player rolls dice to determine available attacks, defenses, and special moves each turn, building small squads of monstrous allies known as Folk that can be swapped in and out mid-fight. Winning battles often means capturing the defeated creature, adding it to a growing roster with its own dice faces and abilities that can be mixed and matched to create favorable combinations. Runs take the player across a procedurally arranged map of encounters, shops, and events, with permanent death forcing a fresh start and new dice-and-monster combinations each time. Strategic depth comes from managing which Folk to field, when to swap them for a fresh set of dice options, and how to counter an opponent's rolls with the right creature typing or ability timing. Between runs, unlocked creatures and upgrades expand the pool of possibilities, gradually opening new synergies for future attempts. The loop rewards adaptability, since no two runs offer the same starting toolkit or path through the world.
