Democracy 3

Every policy connects to others through a visible web of cause and effect, so raising a tax might close a budget gap while quietly angering a voter group whose support decided the last election, and nothing changes in isolation.

Voters are grouped by outlook, from environmentalists to capitalists to religious voters, and each group reacts differently to the same decision, so a policy that wins re-election with one coalition can lose it entirely with another.

New games can start from real-world countries with their existing starting conditions, or from a blank slate. A running list of newspaper headlines and lobby-group demands keeps pressure on the player to justify every decision, since ignoring a powerful voter bloc too long invites a resignation-forcing crisis.

• A visible policy web Every law's effects on the economy, crime, health, and happiness are shown as connected lines.
• Distinct voter groups Around a dozen voter types react differently to the same policy based on their own priorities.
• Long-term consequence Some effects take years of in-game time to fully play out, rewarding patient governing.
• A full policy list Taxation, welfare, law, foreign policy, and public services are all directly adjustable.
