About this game
Players lead a dynasty through generations of succession, marriage, and warfare, with new mechanics letting pagan faiths reform their religious structure and gain unique bonuses tied to their gods. Norse rulers can build longships and launch raiding fleets against coastal settlements, plundering wealth and captives from unprepared realms.
The expansion pushes the game's starting point earlier into the Viking Age, opening up decades of raiding, migration, and conquest before the timeline of the base game begins. A new saga system records notable deeds performed by a ruler's warriors, giving Norse characters a distinct cultural flavor apart from Christian and Muslim rulers.
- Norse Playable Rulers Pagan Scandinavian dynasties become playable from 867 onward.
- Religious Reformation Pagan faiths can be reformed into more organized religious structures.
- Viking Raiding Longship fleets can raid coastal realms for plunder.
- Saga System Notable deeds by warriors are recorded as sagas.
