Cossacks 3: Guardians of the Highlands

The base game puts players in command of historic nations fighting across seventeenth and eighteenth century Europe, building an economy of peasants who mine, chop wood and farm crops. Battles can field tens of thousands of units at once, drawn from dozens of unit types, hundreds of historic buildings and a large research tree. This expansion cannot be played on its own; it requires the base game Cossacks 3 already installed. It adds Scotland to the roster of playable nations, with nine dedicated Scottish units that include highland clansmen not found in the base roster. A dedicated campaign follows Scotland's historic struggles for independence, from the battle of Marston Moor to the Jacobite rising, with its own Scottish-themed music. The expansion also adds an AI assistant that automates parts of resource gathering and redirects idle workers, easing the economic side of play.
