Banners of Ruin

Banners of Ruin is a roguelike deck-building game in which the player leads a party of anthropomorphic animal characters through the corrupted city of Aeterna, battling enemies with card-based combat across procedurally arranged runs. Each character in the party has their own deck of cards representing attacks, defensive maneuvers, and special abilities, and players must manage several decks at once, deciding which characters to bring into each fight and how to sequence their turns for maximum effect. Runs are built from a series of encounters, including standard fights, tougher elite battles, and boss confrontations, interspersed with events and shops where players can recruit new party members, acquire relics, and upgrade or remove cards from their decks. Positioning matters during combat, with characters arranged in a formation that affects which enemies they can target and how much damage they take, adding a tactical layer on top of the card management. The game's factions, each tied to a different animal species and aesthetic, offer distinct playstyles and synergies, encouraging players to experiment with different party compositions across repeated runs. Permadeath and randomized paths keep each attempt through Aeterna different, rewarding players who adapt their strategy to the cards and characters they encounter along the way.
