Working from a radar scope, the controller issues takeoff, landing, and taxi clearances to keep aircraft moving without colliding on crowded approaches. New vectoring controls and mid-flight runway changes give more precise ways to reroute traffic than earlier entries in the series offered. A revamped physics engine drives smoother, more realistic aircraft movement, and holding patterns let the controller buy time when the sky gets crowded. Weather turns hostile with storms and poor visibility, and unscheduled emergencies force quick rerouting on short notice. Traffic goes well beyond ordinary airliners: helicopters, float planes, F15 fighter jets, and space shuttles all need clearance through the same crowded airspace. Aircraft carriers add naval landings to the mix, and human pilot voices call in over the radio for every clearance request. Across six airports and a dozen additional challenge scenarios, traffic density and hazards escalate, testing how well the controller can juggle overlapping arrivals and departures without a single collision.
