Age of Empires IV: Dynasties of the East

It adds four playable civilizations: the mounted Golden Horde, the phalanx-driven Macedonian Dynasty, the tactical Sengoku Daimyo, and the versatile Tughlaq Dynasty. Each civilization has its own units, bonuses and strategic approach to base-building and combat. The expansion also expands the map pool with eight new random maps set across six new biomes, giving skirmish and multiplayer matches fresh terrain to plan around. Its headline addition is The Crucible, a single-player roguelite mode built around replayability rather than a fixed campaign. Each run throws unpredictable waves of enemies and randomized objectives at you, and surviving lets you pick unlockable upgrades for the next wave. No two runs play out the same way. Together these additions give existing players new factions to master in standard matches and a separate, self-contained mode for shorter sessions outside the main campaign. Everything in the expansion plugs into the base game's existing economy, army-building and tech-tree systems, so the core loop of gathering resources, constructing buildings and commanding armies stays the same. What changes is the roster of civilizations available and the addition of a roguelite way to play solo.
